Sometimes I think I’m sleeping under a rock. I just found out about a fast-growing, natural parenting event called MommyCon. If I’d known about this months ago, I’d have arranged our family’s summer trip around the Philly convention. While I can’t make it for the inaugural year, it’s not too late for you to go. What’s MommyCon?
It is a boutique-style, traveling event with a focus on natural parenting techniques and products. Speakers range from local birthing experts to national bloggers on the topics of breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, green living and natural health and wellness.
Discover new baby products from green companies. Feed your baby in the Nursing Lounge. Try on a variety of baby slings and carriers. Get to know other moms and mothers-to-be who share your family values. Win an awesome giveaway. MommyCon is a laid back convention open to the entire family. You might find 250 parents and 100 kids in attendance.
This year’s speakers include Jessica Martin-Weber (from The Leaky Boob, a breastfeeding “pub” community), inspiring storyteller January Harshe from Birth Without Fear, and Jamie Grayson (from The Baby Guy Gear Guide) — the self-described “only male baby planner in the world!”

MommyCon in 2013
MommyCon is headed to Philly’s downtown Sonesta Hotel for an all-day convention on August 11. Buy your tickets online (only $40 and it includes a gift bag from sponsors). Next stops for 2013 include Portland (Oregon), Los Angeles and Kansas City.

I’m interested attachment parenting( we already practice a very loose version) and teaching my children responsibility for their actions without coming across as a bully(easier for me to do, not so much for my husband that was raised by a military step dad)
