My Life in Pictures on a Random Day

Welcome to the March 2015 Carnival of Natural Parenting: Day in the Life

This post was written for inclusion in the monthly Carnival of Natural Parenting hosted by Hobo Mama and Code Name: Mama. This month our participants have given us a special glimpse into their everyday.

As part of this month’s Carnival of Natural Parenting, I took snapshots of a regular day in my life. And I apologize for my camera phone, which is quite lacking.

At first I thought my life seemed kind of boring (how do you capture a work day spent mostly on the computer and make it interesting?), but once I posted all the photos, scrolling through them made me smile. It is the little things, the mundane moments, that brought that smile to my face, and I’m happy to have documented some of those things I likely never would have otherwise (such as Sofie waking up or coming home from school).

What are the little moments in your day that make you smile?

This isn’t typical, but on this particular morning, Sofie volunteered to make breakfast.

After lunch, I move to the living room for a change of scene while working –
this time I’m writing an article for ecoRI News.

  1. As I’m a dog lover, I love the photos of you dog waking up your daughter, as well as the video. It illustrates the beautiful bond between children and their pets. Our dog Hector would love to wake our children up, but he’s not allowed upstairs! The other photos also illustrate a typical work day for you, with the snow outside and the writing, it looks like a good day to me. Thanks for sharing your day with us.

  2. Survivor says:

I enjoyed seeing the relationship between your daughter and your pet. We have had many lovely relationships with our animals as well!

  3. I am impressed with how motivated you are and how much you manage to get done working from home – I always find myself getting distracted, although I do have a constant 4 year old companion 😉 I loved the photos of your sweet little dog waking your daughter – is she a Maltese? We are planning on getting one in the next year or so, so it was lovely to see how much your daughter loves her!

    • Donna DeForbes says:

      Hi Sam,
Yes, Dolce is a Maltese Poodle mix. We rescued her last August, and she’s loving her new family!

  4. I’m super impressed that you blog for so many sites – you go, girl!! Wishing you all the luck for attracting a slew of new clients 🙂

  5. Holly S says:

I love how you let the pictures do most of the talking here. Your life looks like it should be relaxing, with all of the writing and computer time, but I am sure it is anything but! Love the beautiful pictures of the snow and your dog!

  6. Your post brought a smile to my face. 🙂 A day that was quiet, lovely, and simple (in the best sense) — thank you for sharing!

I felt the same way about getting pictures of things I normally wouldn’t. I was very happy I had an excuse to ask my husband to take a photo of me doing laundry. Because otherwise, those events are never documented — and yet they happen every day. I love how Dolce wakes up Sophie! So cute!

My parents are in Massachusetts, so I keep hearing about the feet of snow. My kids would love to build snowmen, but I appreciate the lack of shoveling here. 😉

  7. I think it’s so neat to see the little parts of my days in pictures, too! Sometimes it’s that different perspective that reminds me maybe my days aren’t so boring and mundane 🙂
